Spam update

This current rash of tiresome commercial spam doesn't seem to be lessening, although at least the comment moderation means you don't have to put up with it soiling the pristine, virginal spaces of this blog.

I'm now wondering if the spam is automated -- and maybe it would stop if I turned on that really annoying thing where you have to type in letters before posting your comment.

Trouble is, I hate those, and I don't want to put you off leaving comments if you want to.

So -- shall I turn it on?

And no, that picture had nothing at all to do with this topic. Sorry for any dashed hopes.

I have no problem with those random squiggly letter-number things. If you have a choice, can choose one where the letters/numbers don't join together?

As long as you don't go berserk with the security system and start requiring log-ons and passwords then I don't see much harm... but what a shame things have reached such a pass

Hi
By all means turn on that system where we type in letters. It's not really a bother and will stop the automated spam at any rate.
Still enjoying your blog!
Thanks, Michael

yes - anything to reduce the work on YOU.

While we may be mildly inconvenienced, you are having to deal with the spamming nonsense CONSTANTLY.

so, we want you happy, and posting :) so add that protection. We dont need bareback comments.

I wouldn't mind typing in letters before posting comments. But that's just me.

Yes, I use those strange garbled numbers and letters to respond to my blog, and I don't get spam. You should definitely use it. It won't stop any legitimate comments as it is not that much of a bother.

Might as well give it a shot!

Sure! Turn it on, LeDuc. Surely we can live with it...

I've turned it on -- let's see what happens. I should add I've no intention of instituting registration/logging-in/passwords/all that crap. I hate it all.

sticks: Sorry, there was no choice about format.
