My first-ever sighting of a Norfolk snake (other than the trouser variety, of course -- click to enlarge):
I vaguely remember that the poisonous ones have an inverted "V" on the back of their necks* and this one didn't have that so, I am assuming, it's a harmless grass snake. How close did I come to being killed?
* I always thought that was pretty smart for a snake -- V for viper, presumably (although I think we call them adders).

hurrah! you're back.
Welcome back, LeDuc!
That's no grass snake: it's an adder! It is venomous and its bite should be treated seriously, but it's only likely to cause major problems with young children and the elderly. I'm sure you were very brave and didn't run around screaming like a girl! They (the snakes) are more likely to run away from you. Such excitement and danger in Norfolk ...
Well, look who's back. And a day early?
Hi, big guy.
We had a snake in our garage 2 weeks ago. A baby king snake. It was fun to look at and play with for a few minutes before my room mate and I got it to coil around a broken tree limb and we took it to the back of the property and released it.
Well, NPG is gone. No word yet if we can retrieve it or anything in it. Our account is still active, but we have no access to the old blog at this time. This is day 4 and it seems more hopeless each day that goes by to be able to bring back the shine the old blog had even if it is re-opened by Blogger.
We are victims of Blogger's roving spambot. Blogger is not working with us at all to get down to the bottom of things. In fact, Google and Blogger have zero customer service. None. They have removed all ways to contact them via email or through live support. Pretty bad.
So, we did what we could. We opened a non-profit gay bloggers club to collect monies so we can initiate a hostile takeover of Google. I think it might work.
In just the past 4 days we have reached 17 million members and have collected some $72 billion. It's a start. We have begun gobbling up Google shares of stock and anticipate soon having the clout to install some of our own blogger-friendly board members, then - BAM! - we will begin the hostile-takeover process.
Yes, it is thoughtfully planned out. Wish us luck.
In the meantime, we have a new blog to share smut at. Yes, it is at Blogger. It would be silly to open a new blog elsewhere. We intend to own Blogger soon.
Not much there yet. It was only opened like an hour ago. But you are free to cum by whenever you feel like.

Will we be hearing more about Norfolk, or is the snake pretty much it? Did you get to relax? See any interesting trains or train stations or motel signs? You usually kiss and tell, so I look forward to more about Norfolk.
Take care.
Mike
Damn: I was sure it was a harmless grass snake rather than a scary poisonous adder/viper. Damnit. Had I known I really would have run away screaming like a little girl.
As it was, I have always assumed that all snakes are potentially nasty things so I give them a wide berth. In fact, you have no idea how big the zoom lens was on the camera with which I took that photo: I was actually more than a kilometer away. And even then I went all goose-bumpy.
I am so brave, what?
More Norfolkiana tomorrow.
Vile creatures... one bit my much loved dog a few years ago and it was "touch and go" for quite a few days afterwards. He still bears the marks on his muzzle and I'm sure he'll never go near one again
