Hope

Some kind soul has posted these three delightful newsreel shorts to Youtube:

Kestrel was a speculative build by Hawker-Siddeley, but it was way too powerful for British Railways' needs and it ended its days in service in the Soviet Union. The Advanced Passenger Train ("APT") was prematurely killed off by Government -- an extraordinary piece of engineering that would have transformed Britain's railways. Instead the "stop-gap" High Speed Train("HST") entered squadron service and, more than three decades later, is still operating on high-speed long-haul routes.
